Yoshiji drew the pictures for an eight-volume, woodblock-printed picture book entitled Banka Gafu (i.e., Picture Album of Ten Thousand Flowers) which was published in 1935. Thirty-three of the pictures included in the book are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Yoshiji’s flower art is unusual because he used a semi-abstract drawing style instead of the more realistic, European-influenced drawing style favoured by most Japanese artists in the early twentieth century.
